"Mambas decide today to qualify for CAN-2025

“Mambas” decidem hoje apuramento ao CAN-2025

The "Mambas" will play Guinea Bissau tonight to qualify for CAN-2025, starting at 18h00, in the sixth and final match of Group I.

The "Mambas", who have eight points and are in second place, come to the Estadio 24 de Setembro with the sole aim of securing their second consecutive appearance, after the first in 1996 and 1998.

Mozambique can only qualify with a draw and, at worst, a defeat by the narrowest of margins, provided they score goals.

Meanwhile, the national coach, Chiquinho Conde, has already said that the team will not play for a draw, but will aim to win the game and secure qualification for CAN 2025.

This will be the fourth official meeting between Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau, with the "Mambas" having the upper hand in the first three clashes, which ended in two draws, both by two goals, and one victory (2-1).

Meanwhile, at the same time as the Bissau game, already-qualified Mali host Eswatini in Bamako.

The Malians, with 11, are almost assured of top spot in the group, while the Swatis are out of the running with just two draws.
