It seems that the Mozambican police are finally finding a way to get to the kidnappers, although the masterminds are missing.
Another 32-year-old was arrested by the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), accused of being involved in kidnappings that took place between March and May this year in the city of Maputo.
SERNIC's spokesman in Maputo city, Hilário Lole, explained that the individual's arrest was the result of collaboration with agents from Gaza province, where the alleged kidnapper resides.
"SERNIC arrived at this individual after the hard work that has been done in coordination with the various institutions, as well as the information that is received day after day from our sources about individuals who are carrying out these cases," said the spokesman, adding that the success of these operations was also helped by the fact that they had "information that has been coming in from our counterpart in South Africa about some individuals who are also believed to be the masterminds of these cases, and that we already have the arrest warrants".
It is worth remembering that just this week SERNIC arrested three individuals in the municipality of Matola on charges of kidnapping a businessman in the city of Maputo.
