An additional 100 Mozambican doctors may be trained in Cuba by 2024, as a result of a cooperation agreement formalized Wednesday by the Mozambican government, through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, and the Cuban Medical Services Commercialization Company.
This is a program that began in 2018, and so far at least 33 Mozambican students are in training at Cuban institutions.
According to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, the goal is to ensure that by 2024 a total of 100 Mozambican students have been trained in Cuban General Medicine courses, under a partnership launched in 2017 during a visit by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, to Cuba.
The agreement was formalized and updated on Wednesday by the Mozambican Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education and the Cuban Medical Services Commercialization in Havana.
"It should be noted that cooperation with the Republic of Cuba dates back to the national liberation struggle, after independence. Thousands of young Mozambicans have benefited from training in various areas of knowledge in Cuba," says the statement from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
