The Center for Public Integrity (CIP), through its election bulletin, denounces that the majority of Polling Station Managers (MMVs) scheduled for tomorrow's general elections are civil servants or members of the ruling Frelimo party.
"Almost all the presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries and 40 scrutineers are civil servants or members of the Frelimo party," it reads.
He also says that the party has been holding clandestine meetings with MMVs all over the country, where it distributes money. It notes that the amount varies from district to district, between 500 and five thousand meticais. Some refuse to receive five thousand meticais, claiming that in 2019 they received 20,000 meticais to commit fraud on behalf of Frelimo. It seems that an agreement has been reached to pay seven thousand meticais. As in 2019, this year the amount is being distributed among agents of the State Security Service.
The meetings, which even include district administrators, serve to encourage the MMVs to direct their victory towards Frelimo. All phones are collected to avoid possible recordings.
