The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, said recently in the district of Kanyaka that a plan to renew the fleet of Mozambique Airlines (LAM) is in the pipeline, with everything depending on the financial success of the company's ongoing restructuring.
"We are thinking of buying a new fleet of aircraft and further equipping our services," said Magala.
He gave this information at the launch of a public tender to select a contractor to build a jetty on the island of Kanyaka.

As the Minister clarified, this will depend on the gains that can be made from the restructuring process of the flag carrier, creating the possibility of opening new routes.
"If we have the financial conditions that we hope to have one day, we can renew our fleet," he noted, quoted by the News.
In the near future, the Boeing 777-200, operated by Euroatlantic on the Maputo-Lisbon route, is expected to be painted for LAM. But this "requires financial resources to be mobilized".
LAM currently has a fleet of one Boeing 737, three Q400s, two Bombardier CRJ 900s and two Embraer 145s, operated by subsidiary Moçambique Expresso.
