EDM's profits increase by almost 150% in 2022 compared to the previous year

The profits of the company Eletricidade de Moçambique increased by almost 150% in 2022, compared to the previous year, to 5,220 million meticais, according to the public company's report and accounts.

As for the number of customers, the company Eletricidade de Moçambique (EDM) grew by 14% in 2022, compared to the previous year, to 2,936,751, also advancing the "expansion of the network and the intensification of new connections".

Overall, more than 356,640 families will benefit from electricity, exceeding the target set in the business plan by 11.5%".

Also according to the EDM report, of the 416 administrative posts in the country, 318 are connected to the National Electricity Grid, which represents a coverage rate of 76% throughout the country.

It should be noted that the government has set a target of having 57% of households covered with access to the electricity grid by the end of the year, with a forecast of 495,000 new connections.
