Lucro da Exxon Mobil cai 6,1% para 7,7 mil milhões de dólares

US oil company Exxon Mobil made a profit of 7.713 billion dollars in the first quarter of the year, a fall of 6.17% compared to the previous year, in a period that the company described as "uncertain".

According to a Económico newspaperThe US oil and gas giant's net profit remained practically unchanged compared to the previous quarter, increasing by 1.351TP3Q compared to the immediately preceding period.

In terms of revenue, the outlook is almost identical to the company's previous year, thanks to the 83.13 billion dollars collected in the first quarter, an increase of 0.06% on the previous year.

Exxon's global production stood at 4.55 million barrels per day (mbd) in the first quarter, an increase of 20% compared to 3.78 mbd in the same period in 2024.

As a result, the oil company's global production business recorded profits of 6.76 billion dollars in the first quarter, 19% more than in the same period last year.

"In this uncertain market, our shareholders can rest easy knowing that we are prepared," Exxon CEO Darren Woods said in a statement after the results were released.

US oil companies have been hampered by tight refining margins, rising costs and low crude oil prices, which have fallen by almost 18% this year.

US President Donald Trump promised voters a recovery of the country's oil industry, but aggressive tariff plans - including growing tensions with China, a major importer of crude oil - have caused prices to fall below 60 dollars a barrel in recent days, the lowest level in more than four years.
