Lizette Chirrime presents two solo exhibitions

The Mozambican artist Lizette Chirrime will present two exhibitions this Wednesday, in Maputo, namely, "The Book of Ndimande" at 5 pm, at Kulungwana gallery, and "Oferenda" at 6:30 pm, at CCBM. This work is curated by Jorge Dias.

Lizette was born in Maputo, where she grew up and attended commercial school until the age of seventeen.

Creating works of art using paint and sewing has always been an important hobby for her and she never received a formal art education. In 2004 she was invited to participate in her first solo exhibition in Mozambique and in 2005 she accepted a three month residency at Greatmore Studios in Cape Town, South Africa. She lived and worked in Cape Town until 2021 before returning to Mozambique, settling in Inhambane.

His work consists mainly of large-scale abstract expressions on canvas, produced in a collage of Tshwe-tshwe printed fabrics to other so-called African prints associated with clothing on the continent.
