This Tuesday, Ferroviário de Maputo beat Costa do Sol 61-60 at the Maxaquene pavilion. With this result, the "locomotiva" team took a 2-1 lead in the final series of the Mozal League, which will be played over five legs.
In the first quarter, the "locomotives" from the country's capital led 20-14, showing offensive and defensive efficiency.
In the second quarter, Ferroviário scored 17 more points against 11 for the Canarinhos, who went into the break trailing by 12 points (37-25). However, after the break, the team coached by Miguel Guambe responded by winning 20-14, reducing the deficit to six points (51-45).
In the fourth and final quarter, they won again by 15-10, but the result was not enough to avoid a 61-60 defeat in a dramatic final quarter.
Meanwhile, according to Desafio newspaper, the "canarinhos" managed to recover at the end of the game with two triples from Klaus, but in the last play of the game Miguel Guambe's pupils didn't control the clock and let their attack run out of time by circulating the ball without attacking the basket.
The two teams meet again tomorrow. If João Mulungo's team wins the match, they could become champions. On the other hand, a win for Costa do Sol will put the play-offs back on an even keel, forcing a final in black.
