Mozambican financial legislation now compiled in a book

Legislação Financeira Moçambicana passa a estar compilada em livro

As of Tuesday, September 26, Banking, Insurance and Securities will have an important consultation document that aims to create facilities for all those seeking relevant and necessary information about the sector.

This is "Colectânea de Legislação Financeira de Moçambique", launched by Mozambican Alcides Mungoi with the co-authorship of the Portuguese entity - Raposo Subtil e Associados, as part of the international partnership of the Portuguese-speaking Legal Services Network.

The book is made available to the public with one of its main objectives being to respond to the wishes of the various players in the national financial system, including students in the area who, time and time again, face difficulties in compiling diverse legal content that is currently scattered in various sources of information.

According to Alcides Mungoi, the Collection of Mozambique's Financial Legislation was put together taking into account "the national legislative context, which is very dynamic. This is why this book presents up-to-date legislation on banking, insurance and securities," he says.

Initially planned for 2019, the book's launch was considerably delayed due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, which subsequently led to the need to reassess and update some of the content.

With the support of Moza banco, the first edition of this collection will be made available free of charge to various interested institutions.

In this way, the Bank believes that, with its contribution, the national financial system will be further enriched with educational content that will add value to guaranteeing the quality of professionals in practice and in training.

Alcides Mungoi has a law degree from Eduardo Mondlane University and a post-graduate degree in Banking, Insurance and Securities from the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto).

He has been involved in the Mozambican financial sector since 2003, having worked with several national financial institutions, including Moza banco, where he currently works as Litigation Director.
