LeBron James becomes NBA's all-time leading scorer

LeBron James torna-se no melhor marcador de sempre da NBA

Basketballer LeBron James, of the LA Lakers, today became the best scorer in the history of the North American League (NBA) by surpassing the 38,387 points, the previous record held by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

A four-time champion at the age of 38, LeBron achieved the feat by scoring the necessary 36 points in the game between Los Angeles and Oklahoma City, reaching the mark of 38,388 points in the regular season, which excludes the playoffs.

Abdul-Jabbar - one of the many celebrities and sports stars who attended the game - had become the league's all-time leading scorer on April 5, 1984 and ended up quitting basketball in 1989 with 38,387 points.

Few came close to the record. Karl Malone was 1,459 points behind Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant was 4,744 points behind, and Michael Jordan was 6,095 points behind.

According to Lusa, LeBron James is in his 20th season in the NBA, the same number as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the North American league.
