LAM elected president of the Executive Committee of the Association of African Airlines

LAM - Mozambique Airlines was elected, for the second year running, to chair the Executive Committee of AFRAA - the African Airlines Association.

The re-election took place during AFRAA's 55th Annual General Assembly, held from November 19 to 21 in Kampala, the capital of the Republic of Uganda.

At the meeting, LAM was represented by its general director, João Carlos Pó Jorge, who highlighted the importance of the status achieved by the company, representing Mozambique:

"This is recognition of LAM's long and valuable contribution to the growth and consolidation of the commercial aviation industry on the African continent, which brings prestige to the company and above all to the country."

Following its presidency, LAM will lead the relevant AFRAA meetings for a year, where strategic aspects of African commercial aviation will be debated and decided.

The 55th AFRAA General Assembly was held under the slogan "advancing the transformation of aviation for development" and produced recommendations for the future of aviation in Africa.

Companies and other aviation stakeholders were urged to find ways to make possible the transformational value of the single African air transport market for African companies; the collaborative and effective reach of the Net Zero aviation roadmap and the Africa Innovation Initiatives for sustainable aviation on the continent.

Synergies for the development of intra-African tourism and air travel and gender diversity and inclusion actions to shape the future of aviation in Africa were also recommendations of the international event.
