The Mozambique Airlines Company (LAM) has assured that it is fulfilling its obligations regarding the insurance compliance of its aircraft.
According to the company's statement, the insurance payment for the aircraft is made by LAM, SA through Empresa Moçambicana de Seguros, SARL, which channels the respective amounts to the international firm that places and manages the insurance in the aviation industry markets. The document was in response to information that the company has an aircraft insurance debt of more than 200 thousand US dollars.
"LAM has been making regular insurance payments to the aircraft, without recourse to loans from EMOSE. The insurance premiums are paid on a contractually established basis between LAM and the international firm specialized in aircraft insurance," the statement said.
The document adds that, EMOSE, as a national firm specializing in general insurance, provides assistance to LAM, which does not include granting financial values, nor advance payments.
"Insurance is one of the fundamental requirements for the operation of the aircraft, without which a flight is not permitted, as it is a violation of national and international civil aviation rules. The required coverages are always fully complied with and audited by our authorities and by international organizations, including the Quality Management System (ISO)," he stressed.
