Mining company Kenmare has announced a 4% increase in exports from its Moma mine, on the coast of Nampula province, to more than one million tons by 2024.
Market information provided by Kenmare and quoted by "Noticias" indicates that throughout last year, shipments of various finished minerals totaling 1,088,600 tons (heavy sands, zircon, ilmenite and rutile) were made, especially in the second half of the year.
"Shipments are expected to exceed production in 2025, supported by the high levels of stock of finished products," adds the company.
"Demand for all of Kenmare's product types remained robust in 2024 and sales are expected to continue to exceed production in 2025," the company's figures also indicate.
Kenmare is an Irish company and operates in Mozambique through subsidiaries in Mauritius.
It is one of the world's largest producers of mineral sands, listed on the London and Dublin stock exchanges, and production in Mozambique accounts for approximately 7% of global titanium raw materials, with customers in 15 countries, which use its minerals in paints, plastics and ceramics, according to figures quoted by the newspaper.
