Judges threaten to stop work if the government does not respond to their demands

Juízes ameaçam paralisar as actividades  caso o Governo não responda às suas reivindicações

Dissatisfied with current working conditions, the Mozambican Association of Judges (AMJ) is threatening to paralyze judicial activities nationwide.

In a note sent to the media, the judges say that "in the absence of a response within 30 days, the General Assembly may decree the paralysis of judicial activities at national level".

The judges are demanding the financial independence of the judiciary, salaries, security and allowances.

The judges say they sent the Mozambican government yesterday (09.05) a list of demands containing the points mentioned above, so that it can respond favorably within 30 days.
