A kidnapped girl escaped from captivity after being away from her family for a day. The victim says that, after managing to escape, she took the police to the scene, but nothing was done. The authorities are still investigating. The young woman lives in KaTembe, where the crime took place.
According to a publication in the newspaper "The Country"The young woman, who lives in the Nkasane neighborhood in the KaTembe municipal district, was kidnapped a few days ago on Guerra Popular avenue in the city center.
The victim says that he wanted to get to the Intaka neighborhood for the first time. But in search of transportation, a "paid hitchhiker" arrived first. During the journey, he discovered that he was not the only victim who had fallen into the hands of criminals.
"I wanted to get to the Intaka neighborhood from downtown. Since I couldn't get a direct license plate, I got a ride from a man who said he was going to Boquisso. I got in with a girl who said she would show me around. We got in the car and headed towards Mavalane. Suddenly, the girl who was already in the car started complaining that the direction we were going wasn't right. She started complaining, but the car didn't stop, he (the driver) refused. We started shouting and one of them, the one in the back, took out his gun and said we had to shut our mouths," says the young woman in tears.
After the kidnappers' intentions became clear, the young woman says she lost consciousness and only woke up inside a house, where the perpetrators forced the young people to send messages to their relatives to send ransom money. The young woman's family didn't have the money immediately available and she says that she saw some young women being released as their relatives sent the 45,000 meticais, or half the amount.
"The families of two girls sent half the money and were released, and all we heard that night was the gentlemen saying that they had to leave because they had found two more girls and had to go out to pick them up. So the two girls who had already sent the money got into the car with them. They covered them with a black cloth and out of nowhere they fell. As for me, my family said they were still looking for the valuables," he continued.
However, the girl's mother says that she only received the information after a few hours. According to her, the family tried to report the case to the local police, who promised to follow up, but the young woman escaped the hands of the criminals thanks to her cleverness when she had the opportunity to go to an ATM to withdraw money to pay for her ransom.
"I managed to lie to them by saying that the money they wanted was with me, on my card, and that only I should withdraw it from the ATM. When we left, one of them told me that I should act like his girlfriend. During the walk, I managed to lose him and run for help," she says.
