The maritime connection between the cities of Inhambane and Maxixe will be back to normal and safe operation by the end of this month.
Last Saturday work began on the structure that facilitates the docking maneuvers of vessels, and the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers, with the mobilization of a crane from the city of Maputo to remove and replace that metallic infrastructure.
The crane's movement was authorized after the weight and safety capacity of the jetty's platform was evaluated by the National Road Administration (ANE) and the National Institute of Road Transport (INATRO).
The launch of the works was made by the governor of Inhambane province, Daniel Chapo, who explained that the rehabilitation, valued at about 6.4 million meticals, is the result of the coordination between the provincial executive and the company Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) and will be in charge of the company Texeira Duarte, in an operation that will take about two weeks.
