The Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) will now manage all urban infrastructure involving road cuts and their replacement, putting an end to the outsourcing of these works.
In other words, the Maputo Municipal Infrastructure Company will be responsible for carrying out the work on public roads.
The measure aims to ensure that the work is carried out within the established deadlines and with the required quality to avoid inconvenience to residents.
Quoted in a "Notícias" publication, the councillor for Infrastructure and Health, João Munguambe, said that the decision came in response to complaints from residents about the poor quality and delay in replacing the roads after they had been repaired.
The source explained that the municipality followed all the legal procedures to license the work and the companies responsible have undertaken to meet the deadlines and standards set.
"The replacement of the infrastructure has been late and of poorer quality than the original state of the roads," he said.
Thus, sanctions will be applied to companies that do not comply with the established requirements, which could result in fines or even the withdrawal of the licenses granted, according to the Municipality.
