It is now possible to trade between mKesh, M-Pesa and e-Mola e-currencies via SIMOrede, which means that customers of these three e-currency institutions can transfer and receive money between each other conveniently and securely, says a press release we had access.
It is known that making payments by electronic means was conditioned by the lack of this interconnection. In practice, the statement said, this meant that clients of one of these institutions could not send money to numbers of other operators, nor receive it, which reduced the use of electronic means and greatly affected access to financial services and their use by the majority of the Mozambican population.
The communiqué mentions that as a result of the expansion of the mobile phone network "the opportunity has been created for the widening of access and use of the services provided by electronic money institutions in Mozambique".
This "important step, the interconnection of the operations of mKesh, m-Pesa and e-Mola, marks a landmark step that will drive the expansion of financial services," reads the press release.
"With this achievement, we have reached one of the main goals of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2016 2022, which will certainly make an undeniable contribution to the dynamization of electronic payments in the country," concludes the statement.
