Four criminal cases brought against LAM

The Central Office for Combating Corruption (GCCC) has opened four criminal proceedings against Mozambique Airlines (LAM) following allegations of mismanagement between 2023 and 2024.

As the Attorney General of the Republic, Américo Letela, revealed in parliament today, this is case no. 06/11/P/GCCC/2023, concerning cases of aircraft sales and leasing; payment in advance for uncompleted aircraft purchases; acquisition of goods and services and lack of economic reasonableness in violation of company procedure.

Case No. 1/11/P/GCCC/2024, on the use of P.O.S. systems to pay for company services in favor of third parties; Case No. 89/11/P/GCCC/2024, on the Memorandum of Understanding signed for the restructuring of Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM, SA); and Case No. 10/11/P/GCCC/2025, on the lease of a Boeing 737-300 F aircraft, intended exclusively for cargo transportation.

"All the cases are at the preparatory instruction stage and it is inadvisable to share any additional information at this time," he said.
