The production of materials for the local elections began today in South Africa

Iniciou hoje na África do Sul a produção de materiais para as eleições autárquicas

The Mozambican electoral authorities are monitoring the production in South Africa of materials for the local elections on October 11 in 65 municipalities in Mozambique.

Today saw the start of the production of ballot papers and notices for the partial tabulation of results, the templates for which were approved by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) last Thursday.

Quoted by Rádio Moçambique, Paulo Cuinica, spokesman for the CNE, said that the material was part of a set of equipment that would be manufactured in China.

"We have other materials that are going to be produced in China, where a team is going to go. We also have the booths, the metal suitcases, almost all of which are already in the country, and the ballot boxes themselves, which are going to be produced in China," he said.

He assured that these electoral materials are being produced in such a way that people with disabilities feel comfortable while voting.

"We're working with FAMOD on a slightly different version of what we've been doing, which was to respond specifically to the issues raised by FAMOD. Therefore, this work has already resulted in the production of cabins adapted for people with disabilities. These are half-height booths in which disabled people can vote while in a wheelchair or even without one," he said.

The materials that will be used to train polling station staff are already in the country, according to the spokesperson for the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration, Regina Matsinhe.
