Inhambane: Nyusi inaugurates new Judicial Court building valued at 4.7 million dollars

Inhambane: Nyusi inaugura novo edifício do Tribunal Judicial avaliado em 4,7 milhões de dólares

The Head of State yesterday inaugurated the new Inhambane Judicial Court building, an infrastructure budgeted at more than 300 million meticais (around 4.7 million dollars) built from scratch as part of the Presidential Initiative "One District, One Worthy Court Building - until 2023".

On the occasion, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, quoted by AIM, recommended that the magistrates of Inhambane strictly observe the law in order to guarantee greater legal security for citizens, particularly tourists who visit the southern Mozambican province.

"If every magistrate complies with the dictates of the law in any case, be it civil, criminal, labor, family or otherwise, it will bring legal certainty to citizens and, as a result, ensure that tourists visiting the country or the province of Inhambane feel safer and more confident with the national judicial system," said Nyusi.

He said that Inhambane is a privileged province thanks to its unique characteristics, which include 600 kilometers of coastline, islands in the Bazaruto archipelago, conservation areas with diverse flora and fauna.

The province therefore has enormous potential for the development of tourism in the country, but its full exploitation depends on an active and productive judicial system.

He explained that the judicial system and tourism are the bridges to improving the business environment and accelerating the country's development.

"Tourists don't want criminals, they want their documentation and their situation in Mozambique legalized," he said.

He challenged the local authorities to develop concrete projects linking the provincial judicial system to local tourism activity, with a view to meeting the demands of tourists during their stay in the province.

In order to achieve this goal, Nyusi recommends that the local government gather information from tourism operators about the main demands and wishes of the sector, which currently has more than 700 tourism enterprises, employing around 7,000 workers.

"If you really want to be the capital of tourism, legality must work," he said.

Also in his speech, the Head of State said that Mozambique needs to continue expanding access to justice and the law so that the country can very quickly achieve the constitutional objective of guaranteeing the full exercise of justice.

In his speech, the President of the Supreme Court, Adelino Muchanga, said that with the inauguration of the new Inhambane Judicial Court building, "we are taking a firm step towards bringing justice physically closer to the citizen, in decent conditions, in a province where the challenge of territorial coverage and the implementation of infrastructures still remains".
