The National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGD) intends to improve its early warning capacity by adopting an early action approach to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events.
The information was shared yesterday in Maputo by the National Director for Development of Arid and Semi-Arid Areas of INGD, Paulo Tomás, at the Forum for Mobilization of Civil Society Partners and Humanitarian Actors for Early Warning and Early Action in Mozambique.
In this meeting, INGD wants to gather experiences from national and foreign partners to improve their performance and resource mobilization and establish a joint action plan.
Regarding the upcoming rainy season, Tomás mentioned that the institution is identifying points that can serve as shelter in case of extreme events and preparing the Local Disaster Risk Management Committees for humanitarian support of the communities.
