The process of establishing a legal instrument that clarifies the rights of local communities hosting extractive industry projects in the country is underway.
The information was advanced by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, during the launch of the tenth independent report of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative for the calendar year 2020.
According to the source, with the instrument, the government seeks to demonstrate its commitment to the country's adherence to the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI).
Carlos Zacarias also said that the EITI standard presupposes a greater and comprehensive disclosure of information about the revenues the government collects, the payments made by companies, social expenditures, and the actual beneficiaries of the companies.
