The governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, today inaugurated the first poultry development, processing and marketing unit in the district of Montepuez..
It is AGRO-AVES, which has the capacity to produce and process 120 tons of chicken meat per year.
According to the governor of Cabo Delgado, the unit will help to reduce the chicken meat deficit.
"Broiler production is strategic because it represents 52 percent of annual meat consumption in the province. Cabo Delgado currently produces 6,000 tons of chicken and there is a shortfall of 1,800 tons a year, which is covered by frozen chicken, imported from outside the country, or brought in from other provinces in the country," explained Tauabo, quoted by the newspaper Notícias.
