INAM: Storm Eleanor could cause heavy rain and gusty winds in Mozambique

Today, the National Meteorological Institute (INAM) issued a warning about the formation of a tropical storm in eastern Madagascar that could affect the weather on the Mozambican mainland.

The INAM press release states that the tropical depression east of Madagascar has evolved into a Moderate Tropical Storm and has the potential to evolve into a Tropical Cyclone on February 21, 2024.

According to INAM, the interaction between this and other weather systems "could influence the weather with moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in the central and northern regions of the country".

INAM calls on the population to continue to follow the meteorological information issued by the competent authorities.
