INAM predicts continued moderate to heavy rainfall

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) predicts that there will continue to be moderate to heavy rainfall (30 to 50 millimeters in 24 hours), locally heavy (more than 50 millimeters in 24 hours), accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, in the north and central regions; and in the province of Inhambane (south).

In a statement quoted by Notícias, INAM said that in the north, the phenomena will occur in the districts of Nipepe, Marrupa, Metarica, Cuamba, Mecula and Maúa (Niassa); Malema, Ribáué, Lalaua, Mucuburi, Eráti, Nacarroa, Memba, Muecate, Nacala and the city of Nampula (Nampula province) and in all the districts of Cabo Delgado province.

In the Central zone, the districts of Changara, Cahora Bassa, Magoé, Zumbo, Marara, Mutarara, Doa, Chifunde, Macanga, Angónia and the city of Tete (Tete province) will be affected; and rain in all the districts of Zambézia, Manica and Sofala provinces.

In the south, the phenomenon will only occur in the province of Inhambane, mainly in the districts of Govuro, Inhassoro, Massinga and Vilankulo. In view of the occurrence of moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, INAM recommends taking precautionary and safety measures.
