The tropical depression that formed northeast of the island of Madagascar, in the southwest Indian Ocean basin, has evolved over the last few hours into a moderate tropical storm, named "Candice".
According to a warning issued by the National Meteorological Institute (INAM), projections indicate that it has the potential to reach the stage of a severe tropical storm on January 26, near the east coast of Madagascar.
However, according to INAM, "Candice" poses no danger to the Mozambique Channel or to the continental part of our country.
INAM says it is continuing to monitor the evolution of this system and calls on the population to continue to follow the meteorological information and warnings issued by the competent national authorities.
