INAM: Cyclone Jude could cause heavy rainfall in all the country's provinces

INAM: Ciclone Jude poderá provocar a ocorrência de chuvas intensas em todas províncias do País

The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) warns that Tropical Depression Jude is moving towards the Mozambique Channel and continues to influence the weather in some districts of the country's northern, central and southern provinces, with heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds with gusts.

In a note released by INAM and quoted by AIMThe epicentre is south of the central province of Tete, and the forecast is for rainfall of 50 to 100 millimetres in 24 hours, with thunderstorms and strong gusty winds mainly in the districts of Mecanhelas, Cuamba, Mandimba, Metarica, Maúa, Metangula, Marrupa, Nipepe, Majune, Muembe, Sanga and Lago in Niassa province.

The districts of Mecúfi, Metuge, Montepuez, Ancuabe, Chiúre, Namuno, Balama and the city of Pemba in Cabo Delgado province and the districts of Muecate, Nacarrôa, Eráti, Murrupula, Ribaué, Lalaua, Mecuburi, Nacarroa, Rapale and the city of Nampula in Nampula province, both in the north, are the worst affected.

In the central region of the country, mainly in the districts of Alto-Molocué, Mulevala, Gurué, Namarrói, Molumbo, Lugela, Milange, Morrumbala, Mocuba, Derre, Mopeia, Luabo, Ile, and the city of Quelimane, in the central province of Zambézia; in the province of Tete, in the districts of Angónia, Macanga, Chifunde, Chiúta, Tsangano, Doa, Mutarara, Moatize, Changara and the city of Tete.

In Manica province, in the districts of Guro, Tambara, Chemba, Macossa, Barué, Manica, Gondola and the city of Chimoio; and Sofala province in the districts of Chemba, Muanza, Caia, Maríngué, Cheringoma, Gorongosa, Nhamatanda, Dondo, Búzi and the city of Beira.

In the south of the country, according to INAM, the system could affect the provinces of Gaza, mainly in the districts of Massangena, Chicualacuala and Mapai; and the districts of Mabote, Govuro and Inhassoro in the province of Inhambane.
