The Mozambique Channel could be hit by a Tropical Cyclone next Sunday (15), the National Meteorological Institute (INAM) warned today.
In a statement, INAM warns that there is a low-pressure system in the south-eastern Indian Ocean that has evolved into a Moderate Tropical Storm, called CHIDO.
It formed on December 5 and could enter the mainland of Madagascar as a Tropical Cyclone on December 13.
"The same system is expected to enter the Mozambique Channel on the 15th," warns INAM.
Faced with this possibility, the institution says it is continuing to monitor the situation, and calls for the information released by the competent bodies to be followed up.
