The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) is forecasting the occurrence of a low pressure system over the next few days, which has the potential to develop into a moderate tropical storm from February 17th.
According to a note from INAM, the system formed northeast of the island of Madagascar, in the southwest Indian Ocean basin.
"Despite the forecasts, this system poses no danger to the Mozambique Channel or the mainland of the country," the document reads.
In the meantime, the source guarantees that it is monitoring the evolution of this system, appealing to the population "to continue to follow the meteorological information and warnings issued by the competent national authorities".
