The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall (30 to 50 millimeters in 24 hours), locally heavy (more than 50 millimeters in 24 hours), accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds from today, Thursday, in the central and northern regions of the country, especially in the provinces of Tete, Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa.
According to an INAM press release quoted by Domingo newspaper, the phenomenon could affect the districts of Cuamba, Mecanhelas, Mandimba, Metarica, Ngaúma, Chimbonila, Lago, Muembe, Sanga, Mavago, Majune, Mecula, Marrupa and the city of Lichinga (Niassa province); Macomia, Muidumbe, Metuge, Quissanga, Ibo, Mueda, Nagande, Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Meluco, Ancuabe, Chiúre, Mecufi and Pemba city (Cabo Delgado province); Angoche, Larde, Liupo, Mogincual, Mossuril, Monapo, Nacala, Memba, Meconta and Nampula city (in Nampula province).
In Tete the phenomenon can be felt in the districts of Marávia, Chifunde, Macanga, Chiúta, Angónia, Tsangano, Moatize, Doa, Mutarara, Marara and Tete City.
In view of the situation INAM recommends taking precautionary and safety measures.
