After being told by the government to suspend the tariffs that were causing social protest, the mobile phone operators complied and decided to bring back the unlimited tariffs, but not in the way they had been practiced.
Movitel reintroduced unlimited packages yesterday, while Vodacom clarified via its social networks that unlimited packages are also back, but not in the format they existed in previously.
You can see that there has been some readjustment in terms of the prices and megs that were previously offered for a certain amount.
The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Amilton Alisson, said yesterday that this process of resuming the previous fares could be done gradually.
"You have to understand that this is a process. As you have seen, there was a suspension. Immediately afterwards, the operators began to re-establish the tariffs as agreed with the regulator," said the deputy minister, quoted by "O País".
He said that "what is important to understand is the dictates of the law. The understanding is that the regulator suspended the tariffs and then, because the market is free, the operators are working to implement the tariffs which, in their opinion, are those that cover the costs of operations. If the tariffs are the ones that have been applied, they will certainly reinstate them, because they are tariffs that should cover their costs."
