The Maputo Commercial Institute (ICM) is experiencing problems with its water supply and, in order to resolve the situation, is collecting contributions to open a borehole on the premises.
The institution says that it has coordinated the alternative with the parents and guardians of the children. It was decided that the minimum amount for contributions will be 500 meticais.
The work has already begun and is budgeted at 380,000 meticais. So far, the students' guardians have contributed around 103,000 meticais. The school has disbursed 97,000 meticais.
A school official, quoted by STV, explained that contributions are not compulsory and no student is being penalized for not being able to contribute.
