Mozambique's Civil Aviation Authority says that heavy rain and intense crosswinds affected the landing of the South African aircraft that crashed at Pemba airport.
An Airlink aircraft leaving Johannesburg, South Africa, for Pemba, Mozambique, landed in adverse circumstances at Pemba airport.
In a press release, the Civil Aviation Authority of Mozambique explains that the crew made two attempts to land, but without success.
On the third attempt, in addition to touching the runway, he entered an aquaplaning situation (a condition that can exist when an aircraft lands on a runway surface contaminated with standing water), which culminated in an overrun at the end of runway 17.
According to the regulatory body's statement, despite the incident, no injuries were reported.
The Civil Aviation Authority has already notified Airlink to send technicians to clear the aircraft for flight service.
