The Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, has guaranteed the payment of overtime to teachers, but warns that the process will be gradual.

Tonela, who was speaking this Thursday at a briefing session for MPs in Parliament, said that the payment of overtime started on Tuesday and will continue until all schools are covered.

He also clarified that the need to pay teachers overtime was due to a shortage of human resources, and that the government's priority was to guarantee the basic salary, while the payment of overtime depended on the approval of the Administrative Court.

It should be noted that the government has not paid overtime to teachers since October 2022, and because of this scenario, teachers had threatened to boycott the exam process.
