In a very short live broadcast, the "leader of the people", Venâncio Mondlane, asked the people to raise the level of demonstrations to red alert in the event of a possible assassination.
"This means that you (the people) will know how to deal with the issue from Rovuma to Maputo. There's nothing left standing at that point. So that's the only tribute you'll pay me after I leave," he said.
"All of these, which we are now treating with great moderation, are now on red alert. The demonstration will have no day or start. It's going to start right up to the last consequences," he said.
The presidential candidate also warned that in the event of his death, there should be no doubt as to who was responsible.
"If they say it was a malaria, know that it wasn't. If they say it was a heart attack, know that it wasn't... the Frelimo party had him shot," he said.
