The Portuguese non-governmental organization (NGO) Helpo delivered this Thursday six classrooms to a community in Cabo Delgado, which now has secondary education.
"Salaué at this moment already has an eighth grade", thanks to six new classrooms inaugurated with the presence of official entities "and next year it will have a ninth grade", explained Carlos Almeida, Helpo's coordinator in Mozambique, quoted by Radio Mozambique.
The six rooms represent an investment of 6.5 million meticais coming from the consignations of 0.5% from the IRS by Portuguese taxpayers.
They are classrooms equipped with 150 desks and include four toilets, benefiting about 1,700 students in a school with a total of 24 teachers.
"This school had an increase of about 20% in the number of students for hosting displaced people coming from the districts of Cabo Delgado affected four and a half years ago by an armed insurgency. From our side we feel even stronger to continue supporting this community", Carlos Almeida underlined.
The governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, cut the ribbon and highlighted the "quality of the construction" in a region often hit by bad weather during the rainy season (between October and April).
