There is a chewing gum that can stop covid-19 virus transmission

Vaccination is currently the most effective solution in preventing covid-19, but there are other solutions that could revolutionize the market. There is a chewing gum that can stop the transmission of the virus.

This is an experimental chewing gum that contains a protein that "traps" coronavirus particles and can limit the amount of virus in saliva and help contain transmission when infected people are talking, breathing, or coughing.

According to researchers at the University of Pennsylvania who are dedicated to the study of Molecular Therapy, this chewing gum has, in its composition, copies of the ACE2 protein found on the surface of cells, which the virus uses as a gateway to invade cells and infect them.

"In laboratory tests, it was shown that with the use of the chewing gum the viral load in samples dropped by more than 95%," the researchers report, stressing that: "that this gum would be particularly useful in countries where vaccines are not yet available or affordable."
