War: Norway has sent a hundred anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine

The government of Norway today announced the shipment of more than a hundred anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine as part of military aid to Kyiv which faces invasion by Moscow's forces.

Earlier, Norwegian authorities authorized several donations of weapons to Ukrainian forces, including "four thousand anti-aircraft batteries."

"The conflict in Ukraine may become protracted and the country depends on international support against Russian aggression. Therefore, the [Oslo] government has decided to donate anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine," Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram says in a statement.

These are weapons that the Oslo authorities had already decided to replace and therefore "will not have major consequences for Norway's operational capability," Gram further said.

"The missiles were to be eliminated [by the Defense Ministry] but they are still modern and effective weapons that could be of great use to Ukraine. Other countries have already donated similar systems," the statement further stated.

The Defense Ministry adds that the weapons have already been shipped to Ukraine.
