Guebuza: Ainda não chegou a vez de Venâncio Mondlane. É preciso respeitar o processo…

The former President of the Republic, Armando Guebuza, is of the opinion that the gradual inclusion of the different social groups in the political dialogue headed by the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, should be respected.

The former head of state was responding to a question posed by students about why former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane was not immediately included in the presidential efforts to pacify the country.

For Guebuza, regardless of the vision for the future of each member of the debate, the most important thing is that they are all sitting at the same discussion table.

"What I'm noticing is that we're starting to have the participation of the leaders of the parties represented in the Assembly of the Republic. Now, the parties represented in the Provincial Assemblies are being proposed in this same ongoing debate. We haven't yet reached the stage where we can say that everyone is already debating. I want to believe that, in the process, better ways will be found to integrate everyone into the debate. No matter what points of view they may have. And you should also work to mobilize us so that there is this situation," he said, quoted by Rádio Moçambique.

Guebuza was speaking on Friday in Maputo on the sidelines of a lecture he gave at the World Mother Language Day Symposium.

The political debate began at the end of 2024, led by the then President of the Republic and of the Frelimo party, Filipe Nyusi. In the first format, Venâncio Bila was invited, as well as the leaders of the Renamo and MDM parties. The debate did not take place due to Mondlane's absence.

The new format, with Chapo at the forefront, privileges political parties in the foreground, followed by other sectors of society. And because Mondlane is not affiliated to any institution, his individuality has not been given the privilege of debate, Chapo said in a recent interview with national channels.
