The teachers vão The President of the National Teachers' Association (ANAPRO) warned on Saturday that the government will stop work from next Friday (26) if it does not pay the 13 months' overtime arrears by then.
This stoppage could affect an undetermined number of students, some of whom will not be able to take their quarterly assessments, and teachers may not be able to correct or publish the results of final assessments that began today.
Diamantino Marregule explained that the indefinite suspension of activities could also affect the provision of minimum services, "which, in education, are difficult to identify".
Speaking to the press, he clarified that the demand for overtime pay is the culmination of a wide range of situations that have plagued the class for several years.
He said that teachers work in overloaded classes, where the number of students reaches 150 per class; some are arbitrarily transferred, and others are intimidated or suffer death threats.
