Doctors' strike: Government says it will guarantee health services to the population

The government reacted to the announcement of the extension of the doctors' and health workers' strike with a press release sent out last night.

The government says it will guarantee the continuity of health services to the population, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing doctors' and health professionals' strike.

In the note, the MISAU (Ministry of Health) says it regrets the decision of the Mozambican Medical Association to once again extend the strike, despite the progress made in resolving the points contained in its demands.

As for the strike by the Association of United and Solidarity Health Professionals of Mozambique, which began this Sunday, the MISAU also says it regrets the decision, bearing in mind that the association's demands are being met.

The government says it recognizes the role of health professionals who, despite the prevailing challenges, stand by their jobs, honoring their oath, and calls on society to use official sources of information.

The government document ends by reiterating that it continues to favor dialogue as a way of finding solutions to disputes with health professionals.
