The Mozambican government has received 6.5 million dollars to implement projects to promote disaster resilience in communities affected by natural phenomena and terrorism.
According to Notícias, the actions in question will be jointly funded by the South Korean government, through the Korean Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and implemented by the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD).
As part of this, an agreement was signed yesterday in Maputo to finance and share the results of the local evaluation process of the project: "Promoting Disaster Resilience and Social Cohesion in Central and Northern Mozambique".
The emancipation of women and the protection of the most vulnerable families, such as displaced persons and people with disabilities, are priorities among the target groups.
The project will be implemented in five provinces: Manica, Sofala, Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa, which are typically the most affected by cyclones.
It should be noted that Koica has a history of supporting Mozambique in the health, education, water resources and transportation sectors.
