In order to mitigate the public passenger transport crisis that the country has been facing for a couple of years in the main urban centers, the government wants to introduce an electric bus assembly plant by 2024.  

The intention, according to RM, was expressed by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, at a meeting he held yesterday in Maputo with a Japanese business delegation led by the Japanese Minister of State and Foreign Affairs.

Magala also said that the country has the resources to produce electric batteries, but "we need partners, entrepreneurs" to make this happen.
