The Council of Ministers approved today, Tuesday (23), in another ordinary session, the extension of the deadline for voter registration in the district of Quissanga, in Cabo Delgado province, where it has not yet started for security reasons.
The approval comes after a proposal by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) to extend the deadline in that district in order to guarantee security for the start of the process.
To this end, the census in the Quissanga district should take place between May 1st and 15th.
The government has also extended the voter registration period in the United Republic of Tanzania until May 5.
