Government mobilizes means to reinforce assistance to victims of floods in Boane

The government is mobilizing human and material resources to step up efforts to assist flood victims in Boane district, Maputo province, said Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane.

According to him, the state is preparing first aid measures and temporary accommodation for those affected by the floods so that measures can then be taken to rehabilitate the damaged infrastructure.

The Prime Minister, who was speaking this Saturday in the district of Boane, after climbing to the point where the search and rescue work for the families is taking place, said that "the organization, the state, has the conditions and that's why it's on the ground mobilizing every effort to at least find transitional accommodation for those who have been left homeless and then we have to mobilize efforts to rehabilitate the infrastructures that have been damaged".

The governor also acknowledged that "in terms of means to support, naturally they never arrive, because events don't warn and we know that at provincial level we still have a deficit in terms of helicopters, but the boats are doing more than could have been done and we will continue to work," he said.
