The memorandum of understanding between the Mozambican government and TEBA, about the deferred payment of the miners' salaries will only be signed, next May, in Maputo.
Teba is the labor recruitment agency for the South African mining industry.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security says that the memorandum should have been signed this Saturday in Joannesbrugo, but this did not happen due to the unavailability of TEBA's top representative.
Margarida Talapa says that the agreement aims to make the payment of the miners' salaries more flexible, reducing the whole bureaucratic process to a maximum of seven days:
The Minister of Labor and Social Security also said that a meeting with South African agencies linked to compensation for occupational diseases is scheduled for Maputo.
Talapa says Mozambique wants speed in compensation payment process.
There are 1034 eligible beneficiaries in the country who have meanwhile been awaiting compensation payments since 2017.
