The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, yesterday called on doctors and other health professionals to suspend the strike they have been observing since Monday and to return to work immediately.
The request was made yesterday at the inauguration ceremony of the doctors' residential complex at Quelimane Central Hospital, in Zambézia, where he considered dialogue to be the best way to overcome the differences between the government and the Medical Association of Mozambique, arising from the implementation of the Single Salary Table (TSU).
Nyusi said that it was possible to find a solution to the salary increase or to validate the points that the medical profession did not agree with. "The salary increase can happen, but the return to work is fundamental," said the President.
Meanwhile, the minister in charge, Armindo Tiago, said that the strike had been joined in the cities of Maputo and Beira, with approximately 11% on the first day, 14% on the second and now down to 13.
