The results of the general elections held on October 9 will be announced by the National Electoral Commission on October 24, government spokesman Filimão Suaze confirmed today.
As far as anyone knew or expected, the announcement would take place between the 24th and 25th, but Suaze has dispelled any doubts.
At that time, he urged the population to remain calm in view of today's call for a two-day general strike across the country, starting on the 24th and ending on the 25th.
After the announcement by the CNE, validation by the Constitutional Council must be awaited.
He recalled that the law already provides for all the mechanisms for complaining about the results at each of these stages, so any demonstration called in this regard "is illegal".
